Hopes

For every heart that cries a tear,
for every man who learns of fear,
a hope to those I hope today,
a hope that they will be, I pray:

I hope they love, though they cry;
I hope they live, knowing they will die;
I hope that every tear and every fear
will make them hold everything more dear;
That they enjoy this life,
and have happiness through all their strife;
That they never worry that they won't do right,
or have to win a losing fight.

I hope they can help another heart in tears,
or another, drowning in their fears;
They finally stop to fear and cry,
so they're finally happy,
and happily they can die.
