Eyes

Written almost two years ago.

Oh, the beauty that lies behind her eyes,
Oh, the sights I have seen through them,
that beauty’s silent call will arise,
without notice, warning, nor fear.

Oh, beautiful tears, cried in despair,
Oh, silent tears that tear her heart,
with what words they ensnare,
with what cost they part.

Can a tear from those eyes cleanse,
Can tears not flow through those eyes,
for surely they contain not within,
the power to end the cries?

Oh, cry these angelic tears,
Oh, melt my heart with your pain!
For what surely is the reason,
That she cries these storms of rain?

Will love dry her tears?
Will safety calm her soul?
Will she abandon her fears,
To love she does not know?

For what man can love pain,
but for enduring, what reward shall come,
of the tears, of the pain,
but only a truer song.

What man will sacrifice for beauty,
the sight unseen,
who will know her truth,
but only he that will risk his own life.

A man is out there to answer her call,
for a man there is,
to give her his all.
