The Dance

With a click
and a flash of light,
the music began to play.

Two outcasts,
the voluntary and the shunned,
glanced at each other
and began to dance.

Breaking the initial timidness,
she lay her hand in his,
nothing asked, but everything taken.

A slow song crept somberly through the air,
whilst the unlikely couple spun delicately,
too afraid to stop,
too afraid to let go.

The songs will speed up,
the step will grow more difficult,
but dance they will--
never once letting go,
never once looking back.

And when the music stops,
and she falls to the ground in fatigue,
he'll fall beside her...
all for a dance.

So I wrote a new poem. Be amazed!
